Hawaii Activity Reservations & Travel

The amazing beaches of Maui have been categorized according to the towns which are nearby. We hope this makes it easier to plan where to go according to where you are staying. Many of the beaches are worth special trips, so make sure to visit each section and start planning!

Kapalua Beaches: The northern most beaches on Maui which are found in the resort areas of Honokowai, Kahana, Napili, and Kapalua. These beaches include a wide variety of experiences, from the white sand resort beaches of Napili and Kapalua, to the isolated but popular Slaughterhouse Beach, as well as the rocky coastline of Honolua which offers some of the best snorkeling on the island. This area is a little more subject to inclimate weather than the southern beaches, but beautiful days still are still plentiful!

Lahaina Beaches: These beaches extend north and south from one of the most popular cities on Maui. Here you will find Kaanapali Beach, a mile-long stretch of white sand which makes our "Best Of" list for the island. In truth, the other beaches in the area are not the best that Maui has to offer, but each one has something going for it which may suit your needs for the day, including great spots to learn to surf and snorkel.

South Maui Beaches: The southern beaches of Maui offer the white sand and calm blue waters that everyone envisions when they think of Hawaiian beaches. If relaxation is what you are looking for, somewhere to lay down your beach towel for a lazy day in the sun, then these are the beaches for you! Oneloa "Big" Beach makes our list of favorites, with a water color that is absolutely mesmerizing, but it is the most likely to have some cloud cover. It is rare that you won't find sun on this part of the island, however, so come enjoy a lazy island day at the beach!

Paia Beaches: There are not too many beaches on this side of Maui, but Baldwin offers a little something for everyone if it is not too windy. That wind, however, is the attraction at Hookipa, one of the best windsurfing spots in the world. Even if you don't enjoy the sport yourself, it is worth a trip to this beach to watch the world's best perform their aerial feats!

Hana Beaches: Hana is the rainforest side of Maui, and as such the weather here is very unpredictable. However, everything is so lush and tropical that the islands true beauty is in full bloom all around. The beaches benefit from this tropical splendor, with some of the most picturesque spots on Maui. Its a long drive from everywhere else on the island, but the trip is worth doing for a number of reasons, as you will discover along the way.
